Tell Us Your Thoughts

Thank you to everyone who participated and shared feedback during the July community workshop and online survey, and November outreach meetings. At the November meetings, the project team shared how community input to date has been incorporated into updated designs, presented the project’s traffic analysis, and reviewed refined concept design options.

The project has continued to advance detailed engineering plans for the Project, building on the feedback received during earlier planning phases. The next round of community outreach planned for early spring 2026 will focus on presenting the finalized plans, shaped directly by community input, and highlighting how feedback influenced final design decisions.

Background

In 2023, the planning phase of the project began by identifying the corridor’s needs and mobility gaps based on an existing conditions analysis and the first phase of community engagement. Design alternatives were then developed to address the issues identified by the community.

During the second phase of community engagement in 2024, the design alternatives were reviewed through community engagement that included multiple pop-up meetings, an online survey, and design workshops. Feedback from these outreach efforts was incorporated into the US-101 / SR 92 Mobility Hub and Smart Corridor Concept Plan  — the project’s previous name. The “Smart Corridor” referred to a protected bike lane, which has been incorporated into the current project design. The “Mobility Hub” proposed a multimodal hub at the existing Caltrans park-and-ride lot at 19th Avenue and Fashion Island Boulevard; however, the Mobility Hub is not part of the current project. Future planning for that component would be led by SamTrans.
