On August 20, 2018, City Council approved an agreement with Freyer & Laureta, Inc. for professional design services for design of storm drain improvements (Project) along Columbia Drive and Crystal Springs Road. The Project is within a residential neighborhood that includes over 50 feet of elevation change between Columbia Drive and Crystal Springs Road. Portions of stormwater runoff from the 700 block of Columbia Drive is conveyed from Columbia Drive to Crystal Springs Road through surface conveyance facilities through a PUE.
The purpose of the project is to redirect flows that are currently conveyed via the surface drainage beginning between 720 Columbia Drive and 732 Columbia Drive into new storm drain infrastructure. The design of the improvements took several years and iterations due to coordination with stakeholders and other project constraints.
On July 15, 2024, City Council awarded the construction contract to W.R. Forde Associates, Inc. When completed, the constructed project will convey the 10-year storm.
Construction is anticipated to begin late Summer 2024 and conclude before Winter 2024.
