Our eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines are available 24/7 with a library card.

eBooks

Hoopla
Thousands of movies, TV shows, music albums and audiobooks to borrow for instant streaming or temporary downloading to a smartphone, tablet, or computer. In order to ensure access for all San Mateo Public Library cardholders, each card is limited to 5 borrows per month. Accounts reset at the beginning of the month and are eligible for “bonus borrows” during the last week of each month. Binge Passes count as one item, but you can watch a variety of content (puzzles, courses, movies, etc.) unlimited times for 7 days. Movies & TV Shows lend for 3 days, Music lends for 7 days, eAudiobooks, eBooks, and Comics lend for 21 days. There are no late fees.

Libby/OverDrive
Downloadable eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines for all ages. Loan periods are for 7, 14, or 21 days. You can borrow up to 15 items at a time. View compatible devices. Beginning April 15, 2024, Android 7.1.1 will be the earliest supported Android OS for all OverDrive apps and websites.

Enjoy more than 30,000 independent, international, classic, or documentary films through Kanopy.   Create an account, download the app, and watch them on your smartphone, tablet, PC or smart TV.  You get 30 tickets each month to watch films; the amount of tickets each film requires varies.  The loan period for most titles is 48 or 72 hours.
