Black History Month 2021

Black History Month Art & Writing Contest

Submit a piece of art or writing that celebrates a black American or an event that inspires you.  Contest runs from February 1 - February 28.  Participants will be entered in a raffle for a $25.00 gift cart to Target. Winners will be announced March 15.

YA Nov Con Story Story Contest

YANovCon Short Story Contest

All 6 – 12th grade students who live or go to school in San Mateo County are invited to submit a short story of 500 words maximum based on one of these three themes: mental health, social justice, or body positivity. 

1st Place Prize: Book Bundle and Journal
2nd Place Prize: Book bundle
3rd Place Prize: Journal

Mixed Bags for Teens

Mixed Bags



Sign up to receive a Mixed Bag, bags will contain two books. Bags will be available for pick up at the San Mateo Public Library Main, Marina, and Hillsdale branches.  We will contact you when your bag is ready for pick up (approximately 5-10 days later). This program is for high school students in the 9th – 12th grades. Program runs through February 2021.
