Generation Voter (Gen V) is an initiative designed to provide inspirational entry points for young, motivated voters to engage in and learn about the election process, voting mechanics, and government advocacy. Gen V is a subcommittee of the Youth Activities Council (YAC) and includes high school students from San Mateo. The group aims to objectively inform and empower the next generation of voters so they can help shape a brighter future at both the local and national levels.
In past years, Gen V has supported voter registration and pre-registration drives at City events and during lunch periods at local high schools. The group also shares information about the election process and stays engaged with the City by helping promote other opportunities for youth to get involved, such as serving as youth commissioners on Boards and Commissions, volunteering opportunities, and other civic engagement activities.
