Police Records Division
The San Mateo Police Department’s Records Division handles all requests related to police records, including reports. Requests can be submitted in-person, by postal mail, online, or by fax. A government issued photo identification card or passport will only be accepted to prove the requestor’s identity.

Complete a public records request online. Upload a signed letter requesting the police report and a copy of your government issued photo identification card or passport.
Request In-Person
Please arrive at the San Mateo Police Department during normal business hours with a government issued photo identification card or passport. We are open 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Request by Mail
Send stamped mail to the San Mateo Police Department with a signed letter requesting the police report and a copy of your government issued photo identification card or passport. All mail must be sent to 200 Franklin Pkwy, San Mateo, CA 94403.
