A wide variety of services exist in San Mateo County to support the needs of aging adults and their families, and to support independent living.

Among the biggest challenges facing aging adults and their families is learning about and accessing those services. Services Link is the City of San Mateo’s effort to help link you to those many services.

BenefitsCheckUp 

Many older people need help paying for prescription drugs, health care, utilities and other basic needs. Developed and maintained by The National Council on Aging (NCOA), BenefitsCheckUp is the nation's most comprehensive Web-based service to screen for benefits programs for seniors with limited income and resources.

 Latino/Latina Discussion Group

The Latino/Latina Discussion Group brings community members together to gain friendships, knowledge, support, and assistance. The group will provide laughter, motivation, and a wide variety of discussion topics. All are welcome!

HIP Housing

HIP Housing is a non-profit based in San Mateo County that matches households that have a spare room in their home with individuals seeking housing. HIP Housing interviews applicants, conducts background searches, develops a “Living Together Agreement,” and provides on-going follow-up support. Home Sharing has many benefits, providing additional income for the home’s owner, affordable housing for the renter, and companionship for both. Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County

The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County operates a special program for older adults. Medical Equipment Loan Program (Operated by volunteers from the community)

MidPeninsula Village is a volunteer driven nonprofit membership organization that delivers services that empower older adults to live vibrant lives in their own homes and remain active in their communities. This program provides a wide range of services to keep seniors, people with disabilities and dependent adults living safely and as independently as possible in the community.

San Mateo County Network of Care

San Mateo County Network care is a website sponsored by the County of San Mateo, that provides information on a wide array of services for seniors and persons with disabilities.

T.I.E.S (County of San Mateo)

Phone Hotline (844) 868-0938, 711 for California Relay Services (TDD). Teamwork Insuring Elderly Support (T.I.E.S.) provides general information on all senior services. It features a 24-hour hotline, designed to assist vulnerable elderly and dependent adults who need help but may be unable to get it for themselves.
