Shoreview Skate Park
Shoreview Park, has been a community hub for over 70 years. Skate Plaza improvements are part of the Capital Improvement Program. Capital improvement project (610038) aims at improving/upgrading the skate plaza following input from users.
January 2026 - 75% construction documents have been completed. 100% construction documents expected in the coming weeks. Bid phase to follow in the the coming months.
November 2025 - Construction Documents are being prepared by the consultant.
August 2025 - Staff presented the proposed improvements plan to the Park and Recreation Commission at the Wednesday, August 6 meeting and received direction to move forward with the next phase of the project, construction documents. Agenda and related documents will be available on the public meeting portal.
March 2025 – Staff provided a project update to the Commission and requested their prioritization of the three (3) improvement options. The Commission prioritized the options as follows:
Option No. 1 - Replace flatwork/repaving
Option No. 2 - Add sport lighting
Option No. 3 - Expand Skatepark
The Commission authorized staff and the Consultant to prepare a final improvement plan (Schematic Design Plan) for Option No. 1 and cost estimate. The design plan will be brought back to the Commission for review and approval at an upcoming meeting.
February 2025 – Following community input via surveys and a community meeting in 2023, three potential improvements were identified:
- Replace Flatwork/Repaving - Revamping the skatepark's surface and improving the entryway.
- Expand the Skatepark - Expanding the skatepark by demolishing nearby structures to add new skate elements
- Add More Lighting - Installing lights to extend skatepark use after dark.
Staff presented these options, to the Park and Recreation Commission at the February 5, 2025 Regular Meeting for feedback on prioritization as funding allows for only one improvement.
