Online and Remote Applications and Services

In an effort to minimize potential exposure to COVID-19 and make interacting with the City easier, we’ve made a number of our services available online.

Below you will find a collection of services available online as well as a number of applications that can either be submitted online or completed remotely by printing and faxing or mailing to the appropriate departments.

Business Tax Applications

Business License Renewal and Payments

Business tax applications and renewals can be processed remotely by downloading an application and returning it via mail or email. Find the right application for your business. Business tax payments can be processed by mailing a check to City Hall, paid through Automatic Clearing House, or over the phone with a credit card.

Community Development

The Building, Code Enforcement, Housing, and Planning divisions provide a wide variety of information and services online. Permits that do not require plans, such as: water heaters, re-roofing, electrical service upgrade, can be faxed to (650) 522-7171.

Parks and Recreation

We've made it easier than ever to register for classes and programs, reserve a picnic area, sign up for our fee senior transportation program, and get information about tree permits!  The Parks and Recreation Department can be reached at (650) 522-7400.

Police Department

The Police Department can be reached at (650) 522-7700 for non-emergency calls or police@cityofsanmateo.org. If there is an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately.
