Born in San Mateo and raised in Belmont, Deputy Mayor Nicole Fernandez is a lifelong San Mateo County resident. Deputy Mayor Fernandez is also on the board of directors for the Home Association of North Central San Mateo and is a former two-term San Mateo Community Relations Commissioner.

Deputy Mayor Fernandez is a proud first-generation American and the first person of South Asian origin to serve on the San Mateo City Council. When not working on City of San Mateo or County of San Mateo business, you will find Nicole spending time with her family or at karaoke singing classic Fleetwood Mac.
