  1. General Plan Update: Community Workshop

    June 10, 2019, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Join one of the most important conversations we can have about San Mateo’s future. It all starts with your ideas and input! Your feedback will help identify what areas of the City should be evaluated for change, preservation and improvements. During two workshops (June 8 and 10), community members will learn about the City’s General Plan Update, and hear about housing, demographic and transportation data that is informing this multi-year process. Participants will also use a map of San Mateo to help identify what areas of the City could accommodate future growth or stay the same. Your input will help inform what areas will undergo a more robust analysis on the impacts of possible changes in the future. RSVP: https://strivesmjune10.eventbrite.com Childcare and refreshments will also be provided. Comments can also be submitted online at StriveSanMateo.org, by email at GeneralPlan@cityofsanmateo.org. Questions? Please contact: GeneralPlan@cityofsanmateo.org

  1. Exhibit: Chinese Brush Paintings by Janny Xiaoqin Huang

    May 2, 2019 - June 27, 2019 @ Art Gallery, 1st Floor

A native of Nanjing, China, Janny Huang graduated from the Jiangsu Academy of Traditional Chinese Painting in 1982 and has been working as a professional painter and teacher since then. Her artwork focuses primarily on subjects from nature in the traditional category of “bird and flower painting,” which also includes fish and insects. Through the simple means of color and ink, she strives to capture the tranquility that nature offers us, to evoke a sense of effortlessness, peace and harmony with the natural world. She pairs much of her work with calligraphed poems and sayings. Huang has exhibited her work both in California and internationally. ** Art Gallery, 1st Floor **

    May 7, 2019 - June 26, 2019 @ Display Case, 2nd Floor

Eric Saint Georges was born in Paris, France, and moved to the U.S. in 1994. A workshop with the sculptor Petrus in 1978 triggered his passion for sculpture, but he pursued a career in electrical engineering for 35 years before deciding to devote himself to art full-time. His main focus is on figurative sculpture and drawing. He creates most of his sculptures in clay, either from life or from life drawings, then casts them in bronze. He now spends time between his studio in Los Gatos, CA, various life drawing sessions in the Bay Area, the West Valley College foundry, and teaching life drawing and sculpture. ** Display Case, 2nd Floor **
