Apply Now for the 2019 City Services Academy

Learn about your City’s services and meet San Mateo City leaders by signing up for the 2019 San Mateo City Services Academy. The free 12-week program is a comprehensive learning experience that gives participants the opportunity to interact with City staff and learn about the challenges facing municipal government today.

What Will Participants Learn?
Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of how the City of San Mateo is managed and operated.
Attendees get to interact with department heads (such as the City Manager, Fire Chief, Police Chief, Public Works Director, City Librarian, Parks and Recreation Director, etc.) and City Council members to learn how new programs or ideas are implemented. City staff will discuss project challenges, budget and resource limitations, and how City Council policy decisions are implemented. Day-to-day operations will also be explored.

Who Can Apply?
The Academy is open to anyone 18+ who works or resides in the City of San Mateo. Class meetings are held Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m., August 21-November 6, in different locations throughout the City. Note there is no class on October 9.
