The proposed project consists of the demolition of the existing on-site structures and trees and the construction of two affordable housing buildings totaling 164 units (148,355 sf) and an above-ground parking garage with 164 private residential parking stalls and 541 public parking stalls. The project also includes a 2,000 square foot community serving space and long-term bicycle storage for 196 bikes.

King Park Improvements Project


On February 26, 2019, the Planning Commission voted 3-0 to recommend approval of the King Park Improvements Project to City Council. The project consisted of the replacement of the grass sports field with synthetic turf and removal of approximately 3,240 cubic yards of organ material, including six (6) ornamental pear trees to be replaced with six (6) 24-inch crape myrtle trees, and additional minor landscape and park improvements. The project was subsequently approved by the City Council on March 18, 2019.

The City Council introduced an ordinance at the public hearing on March 18, 2019 for a zoning reclassification from E1 to R3. The second reading of the ordinance will be on April 1, 2019. On February 19, 2019, the City Council reviewed and approved the project which consisted of 190 residential dwelling units, common space, and open space.
