The San Mateo Public Library presents two in-person programs about aging wisely.

Advance Directive form

Advance Directive for Healthcare: who will speak for you when you can't speak for yourself?

An Advance Directive is a legal document that specifies what type of healthcare treatment you want if you are unable to speak for yourself. It helps provide comfort for your family and friends to know that when they must speak for you, they are following your wishes.

Maureen Dudgeon, MD, will explain what an Advance Directive is, how it is used, and how to prepare or revise one. Workshop will be followed by Q&A.

Senior care management

Senior Care Management

Getting older doesn’t have to be stressful or overwhelming. As we get older, sometimes we just need a little help, like a personal aide to pick up groceries or drive us to an appointment. Other times we need more help such as moving into assisted living or a little help managing and planning it all.

Presenter Stephanie Peters, CEO and founder of enable Care Management, will help educate and prepare you and your loved ones before the need arises so you can age gracefully. Topics will include what you need to know to plan, How to plan, What are your options, and what resources are available.
