Strive San Mateo General Plan 2040

Join an Upcoming Workshop to
Talk About San Mateo's Future!

We're updating the General Plan, which is a road map for the City’s future through 2040. The General Plan contains policies that will be used by future decision makers regarding topics such as housing, transportation, safety, parks and open space, and how the city adapts to climate change. Community input is a vitally important part of the process to update the General Plan.

We've already heard from the community on the Vision for the future, the ten study areas to analyze first for future change, and ideas on the types of housing, jobs and circulation infrastructure changes that are needed.

The General Plan project team are preparing draft alternatives which will be shared at community events in March.  Please mark your calendars and make sure to attend one of the following:

  • Tuesday, March 3, 2020 (6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) at College Park Elementary
  • Saturday, March 7, 2020 (9:30 a.m. – noon) at Hillsdale High School
  • Monday, March 9, 2020 (6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) at San Mateo City Hall
  • Thursday, March 12, 2020 (6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) at LEAD Elementary School

Drop-in anytime during the event and stay as long as you want.
Note: the same information will be provided at each Open House.

Please RSVP at: cityofsanmateo.eventbrite.com

Community members at a workshop

Missed out on past events? You can catch up!
The last workshop was held on Sat, Nov. 16th. Community members gathered to discuss and work in small groups to illustrate their ideas for future land use and circulation changes. Each group had different alternatives for San Mateo’s future. Access materials and videos from past community workshops and subcommittee meetings here.
