The Main Library's Children's Area Will Be Temporarily Closed Starting August 4

Under Construction

The San Mateo Public Library will be beginning the Space Modification Project to update the Children’s Area of the Main Library in August!

This will be the first large scale update to the Children’s Area of the Main Library since the library’s grand opening in 2006. Due to construction, the Children’s Area will be temporarily closed to the public starting Sunday, August 4, 2019.  Limited services will still be offered for children and families at the Main Library:

• Select children’s materials will be available for checkout in the Laurel Meeting Room located on the first floor.

• Alternative locations for programming will also be provided.  Check the Children’s Programming Calendar or website to see alternative locations and times.

• We will still be participating in the Summer Learning Challenge. Children will still be able to pick up their prize books and raffle tickets on the first floor.

• Internet and Computer access will be available on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the Main Library.

Please visit one of our two neighborhood branch locations for full children’s services. The Marina Branch Library is located at 1530 Susan Ct. and the Hillsdale Branch Library is located at 205 W. Hillsdale Blvd.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this exciting project!

The Children’s Library Staff will post renovation updates on social media. Please follow us on Instagram @smplibrary and Facebook @SanMateoPublicLibrary

We are still coordinating a date for reopening in September 2019. More information will be available as we begin the project.
