Parks & Recreation Amenities Reopening
We’re happy to announce additional Parks and Recreation amenities are reopening! REMEMBER – there are state and county face covering requirements, and they must be worn if you can’t maintain social distancing while in public. We all need to do our part to reopen San Mateo safely and curb the spread of COVID-19. For more information on openings, please visit our Parks & Rec FAQ page.
The following is open:
- Dog parks
- Basketball courts for use by people within the same household
- Fields for passive use only (no team sports or pick-up games)
- Tennis courts
- Bocce ball courts
- Most parking lots (Ryder Park, upper Beresford Park and South Parkside Aquatic lots are closed)
Playgrounds, picnic areas, barbecue pits and community centers remain closed. Access to restrooms are also limited. City pools will stay closed this season.
Pools to Remain Closed
We have made the very difficult decision to cancel the Summer 2020 (June 15 -September 7) Aquatic season due to COVID-19 concerns and the complexity to comply with the San Mateo County Health orders. This cancellation includes swim lessons, lap swim, recreation swim, swimmer aide program, and swim camps. We look forward to seeing you next summer! Visit www.cityofsanmateo.org/aquatics for updates in 2021!
Summer camps have begun and will be hosted outdoors with additional safety precautions in place. Camp will be located in multiple locations and divided by age groups to follow county orders and mandates. The following parks will be used from Monday, June 22 - Friday, August 7 between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Central Park, Beresford Park, Shoreview Park, Indian Springs Park, and Joinville Park.
