This is not a critique or sharing group, but you are welcome to discuss your work during check-in time 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM. Silent writing is from 5:00 PM - 6:45 PM. San Mateo Library and Aragon HS Robotics Present: Intro to Robotics! Join us for a 2 day hands-on workshop using the LEGO Mindstorm Robot Inventor Kit. Working in teams of 2, participants will learn the basics of engineering and programming and have a chance to drive around the Aragon HS Robotics’ FTC competition bot! For teens in the 8th - 12th grade. Signup and attendance both days are required.

Writers Helping Writers: Mike Karpa

Hear how one writer quit looking for a literary agent, started his own publishing house and gained a starred Kirkus review on his first novel.  Mike Karpa's story to publication struck a deep chord with fellow writers at SMPL's Indie Author Day, and this program will include details of his persistent search to have his books published and how he ultimately carved his own path. Mike's fiction and memoir have appeared in Foglifter, Oyster River Pages, Tahoma Literary Review, Tin House, Chaleur, Sixfold, UC Irvine’s Faultline, Red Wheelbarrow, Steelhead Special, The Santa Clara Review and Bottomfish. He has studied writing with Laura Schiff, Tom Jenks and Stegner fellow Brent Spencer and has been selected for Bread Loaf Writers Conference, the Community of Writers and Lit Camp. San Mateo Public Library and Music at Kohl Mansion are delighted to present the Lee Trio. An award-winning piano trio of three virtuosic performers, educators, and sisters hailing from San Francisco, the Lee Trio is recognized as one of the premier chamber ensembles on the international stage. The sisters bring their special synergy with a program of renowned classics punctuated by the world premiere of a work written for them, specifically composed to precede the great Beethoven Trio No. 7, “Archduke”. Seats are limited to 75, half the capacity of the Oak Room. Registration required.
