California Voter's Choice Act

The California Voter's Choice Act (VCA) is a critical legislation that has fundamentally changed the way we vote from traditional polling locations to voters now having three choices on how to cast their vote.

The June 5, 2018 Statewide Direct Primary Election was the first election held under the California Voter's Choice Act. We are proud the County of San Mateo was one of the 14 Counties authorized by the State to conduct elections under this new law.

All registered voters in San Mateo County will be mailed their ballot 29 days before regularly scheduled elections. You can choose from 3 different ways to return your voted ballot
  1. Vote-by-Mail
  2. Ballot Dropbox
  3. Vote Center (see list of locations)
The San Mateo City Clerk's Office can help you figure out where to go. (650) 522-7040
