Rolling Blackout - Check List

If power is cut off in your business or neighborhood remember that the electricity will come back on within a couple of hours. Until power is restored consider these residential energy saving tips.

  • Keep a flashlight in your car or near your home's front door, in case the power is off in your neighborhood in the evening

  • Be aware of fire danger if you use candles for light

  • Avoid opening your refrigerator and freezer as much as possible. Food inside should stay cold for hours, if the door is closed.

  • Check on elderly neighbors, or those who may have medical conditions or use medical machinery that operates on electricity

  • Don't rely on ATM's for cash

  • Be careful and courteous at intersections where lights may be out

  • Be patient at stores if power goes out
