Kids & Art teams up professional artists with families facing pediatric cancer for free art workshops at treatment centers and unique destinations for creativity. Together they use art as healing to empower, encourage, and create memorable experiences. This exhibit, "Spring into Hope" was designed to give cancer-stricken children an immersive experience, an opportunity to feel what it is like to show their art in a public gallery space. Forging a connection between separate worlds and separate works, the art speaks to the bonds that are at the heart of the Kids & Art experience. The art on display is created by children ages 5 to 25.
May 2 - June 30 @ Display Case, 2nd Floor
Mary Adam is a multi-talented San Mateo artist who works in many artistic mediums, including photography, painting, printmaking and encaustic. This display of her work features several vibrant encaustic pieces on wood, as well as two handmade art books. In her own words, “I’ve always looked closely at all things around me. And the more I’ve cropped my gaze, the closer I’ve come to feeling the inner rhythm of those objects. My work can be organic, chaotic, orderly, unpredictable, tangled and harmonic. Whatever the medium, my goal is to hopefully express that rhythm for all to hear.”
