  1. Exhibit: Paintings by the Peninsula Women's Caucus for Art

    January 5, 2017 - February 28, 2017 @ Library Art Gallery, 1st Floor

A comfort zone may be a place, a technique, a concept or a culture. And while it may be restful and secure to stay within one's comfort zone, the best ideas and greatest spiritual growth often come from traveling out beyond those boundaries, and mixing concepts, cultures and techniques. Peninsula Women’s Caucus for Art artists Lorraine Capparell, Kris Idarius, Pat Keefe, Rebecca Lambing, Marie LaPrade, Tanya Lin, Alysanne McGaffey, Yvonne Newhouse, Bonnie J. Smith, Deanna Taubman, Leigh Toldi, and Marian Yap have stepped out of their comfort zone to create art for this exhibit.

  2. Exhibit: Folk Art of Eastern Europe by Brooks Brager

    January 10, 2017 - February 28, 2017 @ Exhibit Case, 2nd Floor

In the artist’s own words, “Ever since I became aware of the Cold War between the United States and the former Soviet Union, I have become fascinated with the countries of Russia and Ukraine, Bulgaria, Poland and other countries in Eastern Europe. I always wondered what lovely treasures lay behind the ‘Iron Curtain’.” The display features several reproductions of Russian and Polish embroidery, which the artist embroidered, along with needlework from other Eastern European States. The display also shows items from the artist’s personal collection of folk art from the East, including paper cutting (Wycinanki in Polish) from Poland and other interesting pieces. Brooks Brager has a Master’s Degree in German Literature and has taken classes in Russian grammar and literature.
