City of San Mateo Hosts Fifth Annual Water-Wise Workshop

San Mateo’s Water-Wise Workshop is a popular event designed to help local landscape professionals comply with State regulations impacting water usage and landscaping practices.  The City of San Mateo in partnership with the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA), California Water Company (Cal Water) and Ewing Irrigation hosts this free annual workshop on Tuesday, March 7th from 8:00 a.m. to noon at San Mateo City Hall.

The Water-Wise Workshop, which draws more than 200 attendees, will focus on the techniques for compliance with the new State regulations using the latest technologies in drip/micro irrigation systems. Cal Water and BAWSCA will highlight available rebate programs that can assist with the cost of implementing these technologies. The conference will also include a vendor trade show and practical field exercises where attendees can view these systems in action and learn how to troubleshoot equipment.

Despite the recent rainfall, the state of California is still in one of the most severe droughts in history. Last year, the State officially extended their emergency water use restrictions and put in place more restrictive landscaping regulations for both residential and commercial properties. These regulations now apply to even the smallest of properties and significantly limit the amount of grass and other high-water-use plants.

San Mateo’s Water-Wise Workshop is an important conference that helps our local landscape professionals comply with these requirements, and assist the city in its efforts to conserve water. There is no charge to attend the workshop, and participants will receive four hours of continuing education credits. Please visit the City of San Mateo’s event calendar for more information about the Water-Wise Workshop, or email jborneman@ewingirrigation.com to register and reserve your space.
